Director of Research, Development and Innovation, SEGITTUR
Carlos Romero is the Director of Research, Development and Innovation of SEGITTUR, www.segittur.es, area from which he is responsible of promoting the research, development, innovation and use of new technologies for the tourism sector. Carlos got a B.A. in Economics (Complutense University), Executive Master in Tourism (Instituto Empresa), Courses towards a PhD in Applied Economics (Complutense University). He has been the Executive Director of the Affiliate Members of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), www.unwto.org, for two years. He has also worked as General Manager of the UNWTO.Themis Foundation, https://themis.unwto.org/es, and previous to that, he has been project manager at The Spanish Tourism Intelligence Unit of the Ministry of Economy, https://www.iet.tourspain.es. He has extensive experience in the tourism sector, both nationally and internationally, particularly in tourism planning, innovation, new technologies, smart destinations, organizational management, public-private partnership, tourism economy and tourism training.
